We are excited to introduce our Staff Members starting Feb 2022!

General Manager - Jamie Reddish

Jamie began Franklin Basketball back in 2009 alongside Trent Iuli when they realised there was a huge gap in Basketball Opportunities for all ages in the Franklin districts. 

Jamie is continuing to lead the growth in Basketball in the South Auckland/North Waikato district. With the work of Nicola and an awesome committee for many years, together they have grown Franklin Basketball to now have 7 established clubs and counting, strong Community Leagues, growing Representative Programme and now a future pathway for our players within the local NZNBL Franchise- The Franklin Bulls. 

Clubs and Schools Development Officer (CSDO) - Samara Funnell

Sam joins the team as our Clubs and Schools Development Officer. Having a wealth of knowledge in this area from her recent work for Swoosh Training and Hawera Basketball Association with their In Schools programmes and competitions. 

Sam's primary roles will include:

  • Working with our established club and any new clubs we start, to provide a high standard of Basketball programmes for all abilities and age groups from Grassroots up. Keeping the coaching and other volunteers up skilled to continue to provide Basketball in our community. 
  • Coordinating and delivering our In Schools and School Holiday Programmes with assistance with other coaches- Plan and Deliver both our revised 7U Hoopsters programme and transition them to the Clubs.
  • Improve our Women & Girls sectors to help promote play for both Youth and Adult and transition them back to our clubs. 

Competitions and Events Manager (CEM) - Amanda Kelso

Amanda has been part-time with Franklin Basketball since the end of 2020 assisting with competitions, funding applications and day to day jobs for FBA. With Amanda's recent experience working for the EnviroNZ Bulls as the Event Manager, we are excited to have her step into this new role and lead the Competitions and Events for FBA.

Amanda's primary roles will include:

  • Competition Draws and Administration for all FBA Leagues and Tournaments.
  • Management of any Events FBA hosts, i.e Rep Trials, Coaching Clinics, Skill Development Clinics, etc.
  • Administration for Referees and help coordinate with the RDC.- Work with the CSDO and Clubs to administer all relevant information out from FBA.

Coach and Player Development Officer (CPDO) - Joe Reddish

Joe is an FBA alumni! Having been through the pathway under his older brother Jamie, Joe returns to put his individual development skills to use that he has gained through his years of playing both in NZ and Overseas as well as Coaching.

Joe'e primary role's will include:

  • Building and Implementing a Coach Development Plan to help support any coaches within the FBA programmes and create a pathway for them to strive for.
  • Plan and implement a Junior Skills Development Programme which will be aimed at all athletes who would like to have extra skills training in the week.
  • Build a Junior Club Talent ID which will be used to help determine the skills across all of FBA and be able to direct players to appropriate programmes and clinics to suit their ability.

Community Coach (CC) - Coach Wi

Coach Wi is the longest standing employee of FBA behind Jamie! He is a hit in schools as well as during our Club Leagues! We are excited to have him join us as a Community Coach and work across the board!

Coach Wi's primary role's will include:

  • Work with CPDO in building and implementing a Club Skills Development Programme which will be aimed at all athletes who would like to have extra skills training in the week.
  • Work with CSDO to coordinate the start up of new clubs in the Franklin Region.

Referee Development Coach - Malachi Tulafono

Malachi is a local player who has come up the Pathway and is now ready to join us as a staff member. Being a player, coach and referee, we are excited to have his experiences on board to help with Referee development.

Malachi's primary role's will include:

  • To work with the CEM to build and implement a Referee recruitment strategy to maintain a steady roll of new referee's into our system.
  • Create and implement a Talent ID program to help identify those candidates from Clubs to join the referee program.
  • Manage all referee's with Game Day development in regards to systems, pre, during and post game management as well as overall up skilling and assessing.

Development Coach - Corey Perry

Corey is another local player who has made his way up the FBA Pathway as a player, coach and referee. Along with Malachi, this experience is beneficial in connecting with our upcoming players and build an awesome culture within our community. 

Corey's primary role's include;

  • Assisting the CSDO, CEM, CPDO and CC with their programmes and events if required.
  • Will be responsible for performing service activities and ensuring the maximisation in the value added to Franklin Basketball Association Incorporated and providing other development services to Franklin Basketball and partner organisations as required and approved by the General Manager.
